Why Amazon and Facebook are Google’s top long term threats

3 March 2010

I have been arguing this for a while now. I think that ‘general’ search is not good enough anymore and people need more specific ways of looking for stuff and for satisfying their discovering and purchasing intents. And this is also my vision for CityandOut.

I also feel the same as Tom Phillips, Media6Degrees CEO, about Apple. I am not sure yet, but I believe that their model is sustainable only if they keep coming up with innovative new products. Their app based ecosystem, as is, is not sustainable long term.

Microsoft, Google and Apple are increasingly going after mulitple digital markets – search, mobile and browser platforms.

Which internet giant will stand out amongst the rest? Does Facebook have what it takes to compete against the likes of Apple and Google? Has Microsoft already lost?

Henry Blodget discusses these questions with Tom Phillips, President & CEO, Media6Degrees, an audience targeting company.

- The battle for internet supremacy
- The state of search
- Top threats to Google: Facebook & Amazon
- Facebook’s main focus is to develop their platform
- Ranking the top internet companies
- The potential of Facebook
- How will little Twitter fare amongst the internet giants?
